After a sweaty ascent up alpine Mont Blanc, in search of a sublimity, Romantic poet William Wordsworth was crushed by his sheer lack of observance, missing the peak of the mountain where he´d hoped to encounter transcendental bliss. Prior to his poetic misfortune, Wordsworth had considered the practice of poetry and art as a mere “spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings.” However, after his excursion, which sufficed to dispel myths of creating as an quixotic burst of energy or dream like trance, Wordsworth was finally able to admit that creative activities, like anything else, come from the hard work of dedicated individuals. Sculpture show strives to further Wordsworth´s discovery in the potentials of minute study.
Using relational placement and block of raw wood in place of traditional pedestals, the crafted objects are presented in a humble and cohesive manner. The Show challenges the notion of how crucial these tools are within the field of museology. Without these items of, the delineation of the space is unclear, the line between exhibition and installation ins blurred. However, we would like to remind our viewers that while the sculptures are part of a larger exhibit they are nevertheless individually crafted works.
